E/ICDL Advanced will enable a candidate to demonstrate higher level computer skills, and show employers that you are confident, competent and efficient in a range of applications.
The Staff Development office at the University of London are able to offer the following E/ICDL Advanced qualifications to members of staff:
Note: Further E/ICDL Advanced qualifications to be added in the near future.
You can take any of the modules individually to receive an E/ICDL Advanced certificate in the chosen application or you may undertake as many E/ICDL Advanced qualifications as desired.
To register for the E/ICDL Advanced qualification, staff should contact Steven Mensah during any of the drop-in E/ICDL workshop sessions (Wednesdays, 1230hrs - 1430hrs in STB4).
Each member of staff will need to present their ID card (as part of the internal verification process) and fill out a registration form.
Once these details have been recorded, the candidate will be registered with the BCS (British Computer Society). Registration may take up to four weeks, after which a candidate may begin testing.
Each E/ICDL Advanced qualification requires a candidate to pass a practical test (up to 60 minutes) and answer questions set by a test paper in order to produce exercise files on the computer and/or answer some multiple-choice questions.

To book a full test, use the online E/ICDL Advanced test booking form and an E/ICDL Advanced invigilator will confirm your chosen date/time/qualification test.
Please note that testing must be undertaken under examination conditions in STB4, Basement level, Stewart House. A candidate cannot undertake a full E/ICDL Advanced test in their office or online at home (i.e. not in any other location other than the registered E/ICDL test centre unless permission is granted by the British Computer Society).
Tests are marked externally by the BCS (British Computer Society). A pass rate of 75% or higher is required to pass an E/ICDL Advanced test.
Upon the completion of a test, exercises/answers are uploaded to the BCS (British Computer Society) for an external examiner to mark. Results are issued up to 2 weeks after the test date and if successful, the candidate will recieve their certificate within 4-6 weeks.
E/ICDL Advanced candidates are requested to 'try out' mock tests (known as primers) in the Wednesday 'drop in' workshop sessions (1230hrs - 1430hrs) in STB4 - Basement level, Stewart House, 32 Russell Square, London, WC1B 5DN.
Alternatively, primers are also available via the following web-page: http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=nav.7678
You can download and install the primers (exercise files) for each E/ICDL Advanced qualification.
The primers provide candidates with a superb opportunity to practise prior to a test in order to gain familiarity with the style of questions.
A primer can be manually marked by the invigilator (Steven Mensah) and feedback given after 2 - 3 days.
Mock tests / primers do not need to be conducted under examination conditions.
Note that a full Advanced test will not be allocated until a candidate has achieved a pass grade at a primer beforehand (evidence will need to be shown to the invigilator – i.e. by undertaking a primer).
Further information with regards to the E/ICDL Advanced can be found via the BCS (British Computer Society) web site
