Asbestos Management

Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Work Regulations 2002 became law in May 2004, and, as a result, it is the University's legal duty to manage asbestos in its non-domestic buildings. Up to 500,000 commercial, industrial and public buildings are likely to contain asbestos materials.

The University has therefore developed an Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) [PDF 17pgs, 88KB] to govern the management of asbestos within its premises.

The University maintains a register of asbestos and this is reviewed regularly by the Asbestos Manager.
