Accredited Management Development Programme

This programme, when successfully completed, leads to a nationally recognised qualification awarded by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).  Delegates on these programmes will come from across the institutions of the Bloomsbury area, providing participants with valuable opportunities for networking with colleagues from the Colleges.

Participants are required to attend all sessions and complete work-based assignments as appropriate.

This is a level 3 CMI (Chartered Management Institute) accredited course aimed at new or prospective managers and aims to give delegates a solid management foundation from which to operate more effectively. Topics covered include the role of a manager, time management, planning and managing resources, communication, customer care, setting objectives and dealing with change. This qualification provides an introduction to the Chartered Management Institute Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership. It is intended for people who are considering a move into a middle management role or those who are new to such a role. Please note that attendance at all sessions will be required. Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership

  • Target group: Middle to senior managers, or those wishing to move into these roles. In addition previous attendance on an Introductory course is required, ideally at level 4. Previous Introductory Certificate delegates may also be eligible, provided that they have appropriate management experience (likely to be grade 7 or above).

The Level 5 qualifications in Management & Leadership are designed for practising middle managers who wish to develop their core management skills and practices.

The Level 5 Diploma is a degree-level qualification, which takes up to one year to complete. Participants study eight subject areas, such as personal development as a manager, leadership, stakeholder awareness as well as management of people, resources, projects and information. 

The first group of participants – made up of previous students of the Introductory Diploma - are now completing the programme.

The University is investing in this project to encourage its staff to develop further in their roles as managers and gain an internationally recognised qualification, which is derived from the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership and are accredited on the UK national qualifications frameworks.
