University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP)

The University of London Institute in Paris provides a unique opportunity to gain a British post-graduate degree in French Studies whilst experiencing firsthand the context of Paris.

(1) MA in Paris Studies, History and Culture
This taught Masters program  is led by Professor Colin Jones, author of ‘Paris, Biography of a City’ and Professor Andrew Hussey, author of ‘Paris: the Secret History’.

It offers students the opportunity to explore key aspects of the historical, cultural and intellectual life of Paris whilst benefitting from the unequalled resources offered by the city.

(2) Research Degrees in French and Comparative Studies (MPhil & PhD)
Students may register, either full-time or part-time, at the Institute for the two University of London research degrees in French Studies (the MPhil and the PhD). The 2-year MPhil involves a dissertation of up to 60,000 words. The PhD is awarded after a minimum of three years for a dissertation of up to 100,000 words.

Examples of areas in which the Institute can provide research supervision are the Paris avant-gardes, the Postcolonial World, French history, literature or cinema.

Dr Simon Kitson, Director of Research, will represent ULIP at the Post-Graduate Fare of 19 November to answer any questions.
