Heythrop College

Heythrop College

Founded in 1614, Heythrop is a specialist College of the University of London and has one of the largest faculties in Theology and Philosophy in Britain.

Apart from its traditional undergraduate Theology and Philosophy degrees,  in 2007 Heythrop introduced what is believed to be the first such degree of its type – a BA in Abrahamic Religions focusing on the three great monotheistic religions; Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Why study with us?
Students have the advantage of belonging both to a small community of approximately 900 students and scholars and to the largest student body in the country.

Heythrop College offers an unusually high level of personal supervision through its tutorial system (on a one-to-one or two-to-one basis) and small group seminars.

The College, which has among its lecturers some of the leading thinkers in their fields, offers a wide range of degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and also provides supervision for students undertaking doctoral research.

The College launched a brand new degree – a BA in the Study of Religions in September 2010.

Facilities
In its library, Heythrop possesses one of the finest collections of theological and philosophical books in the country. Its quarter of a million volumes are freely available to students who also have access to the holdings of the Senate House Library and other major collections through the online catalogue.

Accommodation for around 100 undergraduates is available in the College’s on site Hall of Residence. The College also has an arrangement with the University of London to have an allocation of rooms in the Intercollegiate halls.

The Heythrop Students’ Union provides a range of societies and services. Students can also use facilities in the University of London Union. Disability provision includes wheelchair access and a loop system. A lift giving access to most floors has recently been installed.
