Royal Veterinary College

RVC is one of the world’s leading specialist veterinary institutions; the UK’s first and largest veterinary school and a College of the University of London. We have a student population of 1800 enrolled on undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development programmes, delivered full-time, part-time and by distance and interactive e-learning. Our veterinary graduates have the advantage of being able to practice across Europe and North America.

Why study with us?

We are the only veterinary school in England to have accredited status for our undergraduate BVet Med programme from the American Veterinary Medical Association. The College supports the veterinary profession through three referral hospitals, diagnostic services and continuing professional development courses. Our Queen Mother Hospital for Animals is the largest and most highly regarded small animal referral teaching hospital in the UK and treats over 7,000 cases each year.

As an independent specialist veterinary institution, RVC has a reputation for innovative approaches to teaching, learning and clinical provision, which puts us at the forefront of veterinary and biomedical science.  RVC is one of the leading veterinary research centres in Europe, ranked as England’s best school in Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Science, for institutions whose research is primarily veterinary related. Key strengths include public health, epidemiology and the control of infectious disease, with over 100 research-active staff involved with programmes that address both basic and clinical problems in the biosciences.

RVC alumni work in senior positions in veterinary practice, industry, academia and government roles across the UK and internationally.

Students gain invaluable experience in the College’s hospitals and out in the field. The college’s ground-breaking LIVE Centre houses a Clinical Skills Centre which provides students with state-of-the-art practical learning opportunities. Students benefit from world class Learning Resource Centres, incorporating open access computing facilities and over 28,000 volumes of books and journals relating specifically to veterinary sciences.
