Hours of Work

1.1
Full time members of staff of the Central Academic Bodies and central activities of the University of London (“the central University”) work 35 hours per week normally five seven hour days, Mondays to Fridays, with a one-hour unpaid break for lunch. For details on your normal hours of work refer to your offer of employment letter or subsequent written notification from your line manager or Human Resources agreeing your hours.

Subject to requirements of the work of your division, and with the agreement of your head of division (or their appropriate nominee), you may be absent for short periods of time within your working day, provided that the hour(s) missed are made up at another agreed time.

Your head of division (or their appropriate nominee) is responsible for maintaining a record of staff attendance. You are required to agree planned absences with your head of department in advance; in cases where this is not practicable, e.g. in an emergency, you should make every reasonable effort to contact your head of department or Human Resources as soon as possible.
