The University of London Research Library Services (ULRLS) comprise, collectively, the libraries at the centre of London University – the Senate House Library, and those of the Institutes of the School of Advanced Study.

The Senate House Library is the largest constituent part of the University of London Research Library Services. It is one of the largest humanities and social science libraries in the UK. It has been actively developed since 1870 and now holds around two million titles and receives about 5,500 current periodical titles.

The Library has state-of-the-art information systems and provides access to an extensive range of databases together with traditional printed materials.

The Library has several specialised research collections of national importance. These include: the Durning-Lawrence Library and Sterling Collection of first editions; the Goldsmiths' Library which contains 70,000 items ranging from the 15th to the early 19th century relating to Economic and Social History; the best open access Palaeography research and teaching collection in Europe; a Philosophy collection which acts as the Library of the Royal Institute of Philosophy; and a Psychology Collection which includes the library of the British Psychological Society and has been described as the best in the UK.

Use of the Library is open to all staff and eligible students of Colleges of the University that subscribe to the Library.
