University of London Institute In Paris restructuring plans

Press Statement

The University of London Institute in Paris has announced restructuring plans involving the closure of its English Language Teaching Section.  This will result in the loss of teaching and administrative jobs.

The decision follows substantial financial losses incurred over a number of years which the University of London can no longer sustain.

In accordance with the French Labour Code, the Works Council of the Institute has been informed about the financial circumstances of the Institute and consulted about the restructuring plans including the ‘Plan de Sauvegarde de l’Emploi’ which sets out measures to mitigate job losses.

As is usual in such situations, the University is endeavouring to make the necessary arrangements for the small number of students who are part way through their course to complete their studies.

The Institute intends in future to focus on research and degree level teaching in French Studies which attracts funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England and is consistent with the mission of the University of London.
