Earlier this year the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), following a review of national research libraries, announced its decision to remove much of the special funding stream portion of Senate House Library’s revenue.
HEFCE also determined that the future of Senate House Library should be determined by the Colleges of the University of London. This latter review is currently being undertaken by an independent consultant, overseen by a Steering Group drawn from across the Colleges and central University.
This independent review marks a major milestone in the Library’s onward development and an excellent opportunity to clarify the future mission and make-up of the library.
