University of London Garden Hall Development

The University of London is proposing to modernise and enhance its Garden Halls student accommodation at Cartwright Gardens.

We have now submitted our proposals to Camden Council. Our application is available on Camden’s website in two parts, number 2013/1598/P  and number 2013/1787/C . You are also able to submit your comments on our planning application and our conservation area consent application to Camden Council.

Public Exhibition

We are holding a public exhibition over a two month period to present details of our submitted plans to the local community. The exhibition will also include architects’ models of the proposals, and the opportunity to leave feedback and comments for the University of London.

We particularly want to hear your ideas on the landscaping of Cartwright Gardens and on our Student Management Plan as the details are still being finalised. Prior to submitting our plans to Camden Council we held three public exhibitions to present our proposals to you and listen to your comments about them. Thank to everybody who has attended these and provided us with feedback. The first of the public exhibitions took place on Thursday 26th July and Saturday 28th July 2012 and displayed our initial proposals. The second public exhibition took place on Saturday 13th October and Wednesday 17th October, and the third on 31st January 2013. These exhibitions displayed how our proposals had progressed since the previous exhibition, incorporating your feedback into the plans wherever possible. All the public exhibitions displayed our proposals on exhibition boards which can be downloaded from this website. The public exhibition on 31st January 2013 also included an architects’ model to highlight the exciting developments to our proposals.

We have also met and continue to meet with various local stakeholders. This includes a meeting in December 2012 with local ward councillors to discuss the development of the proposals and a meeting with the board of the Sinclair Sandwich Thanet Limited and Sinclair Sandwich Thanet Management Limited. The memberships of Sinclair Sandwich Thanet Limited and Sinclair Sandwich Thanet Management Limited are drawn from flat owners in these blocks. We attended the King’s Cross Area Action Group meeting on 18th March 2013.
