Royal Veterinary College

The Royal Veterinary College, University of London, is one of the world’s leading specialist institutions of veterinary medicine, biological sciences and veterinary nursing. It is the UK’s first and largest veterinary school. We have a UK and international student population of 1800 enrolled on undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development programmes, delivered full-time, part-time and by distance and interactive e-learning.

Why study with us?

The RVC is the only veterinary school in the world to achieve full accreditation by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). We have full recognition by the UK's Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), as well as a reciprocal arrangement between the RCVS and the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc (AVBC). Our graduates can practice in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

The College supports the veterinary and veterinary nursing profession through three referral hospitals, diagnostic services and continuing professional development courses. Our Queen Mother Hospital for Animals is the largest and most highly regarded small animal referral teaching hospital in the UK and treats over 7,000 cases each year.

The RVC has a reputation for innovative approaches to teaching, learning and clinical provision, which puts us at the forefront of veterinary and biological science. We are one of the leading research centres in Europe, ranked as England’s best school in Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Science, for institutions whose research is primarily veterinary related. Our biology courses are recognised by the prestigious Society of Biology.

Key strengths include global health and epidemiology, with over 100 research-active staff involved in programmes that address both basic and clinical problems in the biosciences.

RVC alumni work in senior positions in veterinary practice, industry, academia and government roles across the UK and internationally.

Students gain invaluable experience in RVC hospitals and out in the field. The college’s ground-breaking LIVE Centre houses a Clinical Skills Centre which provides students with state-of-the-art practical learning opportunities. Students benefit from world-class Learning Resource Centres, incorporating open access computing facilities and over 28,000 volumes of books and journals relating specifically to veterinary and biological sciences.
