Degree programmes are delivered entirely onsite in central Paris.

Why study with us?

Where better to study French and French culture, than in France?

As a small and specialised institution, ULIP provides research-led teaching from experts in their field and a much more personal touch.

ULIP is located in central Paris and our premises overlook the Esplanade des Invalides in the 7th arrondissement.

What we offer

Bachelor's degrees (with Honours) in French Studies and in French Studies with History, both of which take place entirely in Paris over three years. Depending on a student’s choice of options, the vast majority of teaching is conducted in French.

A Master's degree in Paris Studies: History & Culture. Conducted in English, this degree is unique in that it focuses on the city within which teaching takes place. It offers unrivalled opportunity for engagement with the Parisian cultural landscape, at the same time as access to French academic resources.

ULIP also offers – in partnership with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL)  – a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) and a Master’s degree in International Relations. Both of these programmes are taught at ULIP by QMUL academic staff and lead to a Queen Mary University of London degree. Queen Mary University of London has a long standing academic partnership with ULIP and this collaboration brings the expertise of both QMUL’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies, within the School of Law, and the School of Politics and International Relations to the heart of Paris.

Research degrees. Proposals from prospective doctoral research students are welcomed throughout the year. Examples of topics for research supervision include:  Paris History and Culture; 19th Century French and Comparative Literature; The Postcolonial World; French History in the 20th Century; The Avant-gardes in Paris; and North African Writing.

Opportunity for Visiting Students. Whether as part of a Year Abroad programme with a UK university, or an international equivalent, ULIP welcomes those who wish to join us for a semester or whole year in Paris.
