Originally founded in 1910 and operating as the Athlone Press between 1949 and 1979, the press boasted an impressive publishing programme featuring notable thinkers of the day. The University of London Press inherits and builds on that rich publishing tradition, disseminating distinctive scholarship at the forefront of the humanities.

New Historical Perspectives is an Open Access books series commissioned by the Royal Historical Society and published as an imprint of the IHR by the University of London Press. The series enables early career researchers to publish monographs or edited collections in print and open access formats, without author charges.
