Since 2017, Patrick has been Chief Property, Facilities & Procurement Officer at Sainsbury’s plc with responsibility for all the group's procurement and extensive property portfolio across Sainsbury’s, Habitat and Argos.
Previously he was global SVP, Chief Property & Procurement Officer at Walgreens Boots Alliance from 2007 to 2017. His role at Sainsbury’s has been to lead a programme of procurement-led business change, challenging the traditional role of the company’s procurement division from a service provider into a major value-adding contributor to the bottom-line as well as developing and leading the next generation of the group’s property strategy.
Patrick started his career at the Nissan Motor Company, spending 10 years playing leading roles in Nissan’s Revival and their integration with Renault. He later worked for MFI plc as Purchasing Director, establishing their Asian sourcing and supply chain operations, and subsequently spent time in Asia as Managing Director for MFI Asia. He later was part of the team that grew Howden Joinery Plc before being made Chief Operating Officer for Howden Joinery Supply where he restructured their sourcing, manufacturing, and supply chains, successfully supporting Howden Joinery to become the UK's number one kitchen and joinery company.
Patrick was the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) “Leader of The Year” in 2019, at the same time his team at Sainsbury’s were voted the CIPS “Team of The Year”. In 2020 his team also won “Team of the Year” at the World Procurement Awards. Patrick has been recognised on numerous years in the global Procurement Power List.
