Support the Library

Help us to transform Senate House Library into a world-leading beacon for discovery, creativity and collaboration.
Transforming the Library
The University is embarking on an ambitious multi-year project to transform Senate House Library.
We will create next-generation spaces and services, driving insight, artistry and innovation. We will animate our collections and put them in the hands of students, scholars and inquisitive minds everywhere. We will open our doors and digital domains to audiences local, national and global.
Led by the University’s history and values, we will make Senate House Library a universal portal to knowledge, inspiration and connection; a window to the world for millions across the globe.

Gifts to Senate House Library
For more than 150 years the Library has been a key part of the UK’s intellectual infrastructure. Housing one of the country’s largest academic libraries for arts, humanities and social sciences, it is a pivotal resource for the wider research community, as well as for almost 300,000 University of London students studying across more than 190 countries.
Donate to Senate House Library
Donations to Senate House Library play an important part in supporting the development and conservation of its two million volumes and its 50 special collections. These include two copies of Shakespeare’s First Folios, handwritten poetry by Lord Byron and collections that chart the rise of radical political movements, such as personal letters written by Nelson Mandela from his prison cell.
Gifts also support the Library’s public engagement activities, helping to bring its important collections to life and making them accessible to wider audiences.
