Examination papers

The Library holds the exam papers for all examinations conducted by the Central University and for the examinations conducted by the former University of London Examination and Assessment Council. The Council conducted School and Higher School Certificate examinations, GCE ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level examinations and GCSE and CSE examinations.

Exam papers are available as follows:

  • 1844-1903 (published in the University Calendar) available from the Stack Service Desk on the 4th floor, or the Palaeography Room in the Sterling Library. Stack fetching and Special Collections fetching only operate at certain times of the day, so please make sure you allow sufficient time.
  • From 1904 available from the Stack Service Desk on the 4th floor. These items are stored off-site and it will take two working days for them to be available in the Library. (Please note that there is a delay of about three months from the time of examination in receiving exam papers.). For details email senatehouselibrary@london.ac.uk.

As from summer 1996, the Library no longer takes University of London Examination and Assessment Council exam papers. These are available from the publishers and from Edexcel with Pearson. The Library only takes exam papers for university based examinations. Exam papers for examinations organised by individual colleges or schools of the University must be requested from the relevant college or school.

Examination papers are for reference use in the Library only. They may be consulted and copied if in a suitable condition.

If you wish to consult exam papers in the Library you must have a valid Library ticket. You can also order copies through our Reproductions Service.
