Terms of Use for User-Generated Content
We, the University of London (“University”), greatly value and appreciate the contributions that you, our alumni and members of the University community, make to promote and inform others about the impact that their University of London qualification had on their lives and experiences. We want to share with You how we will use any of the material and information you share with the University to help us inform others about the University and its work.
User Content Licence
By sharing your user-generated content (“User Content”) with us, You agree to the University, and its licensees, sublicensees, contractors and third-party providers, using it as set out in these terms. You also acknowledge that the opportunity to feature in any of the above is offered with no remuneration and with no obligation on the University to use the User Content.
We will use the User Content that You have contributed, produced or submitted for a range of purposes to promote the mission and goals of the University. User Content, including images or recordings You produce may be used by the University for promotional purposes in the future, including the promotion of the programmes offered by the University.
You are granting Us a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, irrevocable, sublicensable right to use the User Content free of charge in the manner we determine for the purpose of publicity material and/or for the education of other students, alumni and other members of the University community, including electronically or in print. You agree that We may use, display, publicly perform, reproduce, combine with other materials, alter and/or edit and make publicly accessible the User Content across a range of platforms, including online platforms, such as social media, and in other print and media formats.
This includes granting the University the right to use Your real name, image, likeness, descriptions of you, location or other identifying information, including but not limited to your voice, in connection with any use of your User Content.
You represent and warrant that: (i) the User Content provided by you is accurate; (ii) you own all rights in and to your User Content or have all necessary rights and permissions to grant the University the rights set out here from any and all other persons and/or entities; (iii) it does not infringe the rights of any third party, and is not unlawful; (iv) that you are at least 18 years of age; (v) any identifiable individual in any image or photograph is aged 16 or above and has agreed to the use of their image; and (vi) to the extent permissible by laws, you waive all “moral rights” in respect of attribution of authorship of the User Content.
You agree to indemnify the University for any and all losses resulting from the invalidity or inaccuracy of the above representation. You release the University of London and anyone acting on our behalf from any liability arising from use of your User Content.
If you believe that your User Content infringes upon the rights of any persons or entities, please notify us promptly at the alumni@london.ac.uk email address.
We reserve the right to remove your User Content from our sites at any time.
You agree that if we do not enforce a legal right contained in these terms, this will not be taken as a formal waiver of those rights. If any part of these terms becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall not be affected.

Personal Data and Privacy
You can see how the University will use your data by looking at the full Development Office Privacy Statement at the following link: Development Office Privacy Statement. The University will use the User Content described above for its legitimate interests in promoting the University, its mission, values, and academic programmes.
This can vary but, for example, profiles may stay up on our website for a few years so that students, alumni and others get to see the range of experiences our students, alumni and friends have. The University will make reasonable efforts to inform you about how we’re using your User Content, for example, letting alumni or members of the University community know that we’re posting a profile on one of our social media channels or in a publication.
You can contact us at any time via the alumni@london.ac.uk email address to request that you would no longer like your User Content to be used, or to update this content with new information (for example, to share that you have a new job).
The University will make reasonable efforts to achieve this (e.g. we may update or remove User Content on our website but not in previously printed publications). We will ensure that the User Content will no longer be shared by the University. The University will retain the ownership of that User Content and use it for as long as it is relevant.
The User Content is created to share on public facing websites and social media so your data will be shared on the University accounts for these platforms.
If you have additional questions or concerns relating to the use of Your User Content please email alumni@london.ac.uk
As we may alter these terms without advance notice by posting revised Terms, please review the terms each time you grant permission to feature your Content.
Thank you again for sharing your experiences with the University and our community.
