Recognition and accreditation of prior learning for the Global MBA
If you already hold qualifications with similar learning outcomes to Global MBA modules, you can apply for your prior learning to be recognised and accredited. If this is successful, you will not need to study those modules to complete your award. This process is called ‘Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)’.
Note that the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership is awarded on the basis of successful completion of the MBA core modules and Strategic Project. If you have RPL for core modules, CMI will need to assess learning outcomes from alternative Global MBA modules. This may affect CMI’s ability to confer the award of the CMI Level 7 Diploma.
Eligibility
In the first instance, you must be eligible for one of the two entry routes for the Global MBA. You must also have passed degree/professional level examinations in subjects that compare in level, content and standard to the module(s) for which you are seeking recognition of prior learning.
- For the MBA, we will consider recognition and accreditation for up to 120 credits (though not the Strategic Project).
- For the Postgraduate Diploma, the limit is 60 credits.
- For the Postgraduate Certificate, the limit is 30 credits.
Automatic recognition of prior learning
There are certain qualifications for which we recognise prior learning automatically.
If you satisfy the conditions, complete the relevant section of the online application form, and supply the necessary evidence, we will accredit your prior learning as detailed below. No fees are charged for this service.
You must have passed the relevant listed qualification(s) in full within the five years preceding your request for accreditation. If your qualification was obtained more than five years ago, you may be considered for discretionary APL (see below). Please contact the Admissions Office for clarification.
Discretionary recognition of prior learning
If you hold other qualifications that, in your view, reflect similar learning outcomes to any modules of the Global MBA, you can apply for this to be recognised and accredited as prior learning.
In each case, we assess how your qualification compares with the MBA module(s) which you believe your prior learning covered. You pay a non-refundable fee for this service.
We cannot advise on discretionary cases until we have received a completed request form, your application fee, and any documentary evidence we have requested.
