A strategic understanding is necessary to identify the challenges of managing supply chains and to develop responses which create competitive advantage. This module demonstrates how to use the main strategy tools and frameworks to address a range of strategic issues.

It will address decision making where complex trade-offs are required and the ethical issues in formulating strategy. Real case studies are reviewed using analytical tools that can be deployed in your own organisation.

Coursework (30% weighting) - Project report of 2,500 words on a competitive rivalry analysis. In this project you will analyse the industry structure, and the competitive strategies of two firms competing within an industry at greater depth.

Examination (70% weighting) - A two-hour unseen written examination. The questions will be based on the topics covered in the module and through the assigned readings.

Pass Mark - To pass this module you must get a mark of at least 50% in each element of assessment, subject to the application of rules for compensation. Please see the programme regulations for more information.
