I'm a people person. That's what drives me.
Meet our new business development and sales whizz Anne Voelkert who joined our busy events team earlier this autumn and is passionate about hospitality.
Forming relationships is paramount to the future of any business. Whether you’re looking to build brand loyalty or foster new partnerships, that’s where events can make a meaningful difference.
That’s something Anne, our new Senior Business Development and Sales Manager, knows first-hand. Part of her role involves developing relationships across industry and with events planners, and you’ll often see her at industry forums, raising the profile of our iconic central London event venue.
A passion for hospitality and reams of events experience
She is first and foremost a people person. That’s one of the reasons she loves to see events come together. “You've worked so hard on building a relationship with that client, and after three, six months, to have a massive event taking place, it makes you happy,” she says proudly.
Anne joined the University of London in September, coming over from the IT sector. She also previously worked for another conference and events venue in the capital, where she helped book a range of similarly high-profile clients across TV, business and government, thanks to her business acumen, language skills as a native German speaker and interpersonal aptitudes.
Her 20 years’ experience in the industry will come in handy at the University, where our events team works with a range of clients across sectors, from London Fashion Week to top-grossing film productions.
Her industry know-how is something her clients highly value. “It helps me advise clients, give them the right information on what we can do, how we can help them and help their clients achieve the best event.
“It gives them the knowledge they need to make the right decision.”
An Art Deco event space with a range of room options
When taking on her new role, she was drawn to the University of London brand and Senate House, an historic Grade II listed London venue that is ideal for lavish events, conferences, film productions and much more.
Going forward, she hopes to grow her team and attract a greater range of clients, as the University adds Stewart House to its portfolio, a fully accessible events centre in Bloomsbury newly available to hire for training events, conferences, long-term office space solutions and other needs.
She is keen to get more and more clients to realise the enormous value of the University’s venues. "We have such an enriching history at the university and such nice spaces, from Senate House Library, which is a beautiful space, to all the rooms such as the Chancellor's Hall, which is a lovely art deco space, and the front facade, which has been featured in various movies,” she says.
