What makes Senate House a perfect location for your event

Selecting the perfect venue is paramount to the success of any event. The location plays a crucial role in ensuring that attendees feel comfortable and engaged. From accessibility and ambiance to logistics and convenience, choosing the right venue can make all the difference in making your event memorable and impactful.

Tucked away in one of the most peaceful areas of central London and surrounded by university buildings, Senate House makes a unique venue for an event of any scale. It has often been used as a filming location, as well as to host academic and corporate conferences and networking events, London Fashion Week shows and private ceremonies.

Historical significance

Built in the 1930s and designed by architect Charles Holden in art deco style, Senate House boasts a rich historical heritage that adds an air of gravitas to any event held within its walls. Whether hosting a corporate conference, gala dinner, a networking event or a fashion week show, the grandeur of Senate House never fails to leave a lasting impression on guests.

Central location

Situated in Bloomsbury, Senate House enjoys a prime location in the heart of London. With excellent transport links and proximity to major attractions such as the British Museum, West End theatres, and Covent Garden, it offers unparalleled convenience and accessibility for event attendees.

Transport links

Senate House benefits from excellent transport links, making it easily accessible for guests and delegates. The venue is within walking distance of several major transport hubs, including Russell Square, Goodge Street, and Tottenham Court Road underground stations, providing convenient connections to the rest of the city via the London Underground network. Additionally, numerous bus routes serve the surrounding area, offering further flexibility for attendees traveling to and from the venue.

Versatile spaces

Senate House offers a variety of rooms that can be transformed and adapted to various types of events, from group discussions, networking events to panel discussions and lectures given by selected individuals. In recent years, Senate House has been accommodating events that have reached beyond physical space and into the digital sphere.

Digital access

In 2023 alone, Senate House has hosted events that tapped its potential for combining digital elements in its physical space. For Black History Month in 2023, students and guests could watch a series of films on the screen placed before the Senate House Steps, streamed weekly throughout October. For the annual Open House Festival which Senate House takes part in, the guests had access to an audio guide which led them through the most significant and memorable rooms of the building.

Despite its proximity to the centre of London, Bloomsbury offers respite from the noise and hustle of the busy streets, with its many parks and quiet garden squares – several of which are owned by the University and available for hire. The area is dotted with cafes and bistros, from popular chains to cosy, unique restaurants. Whether you need to pop out for a short break or lunch, it is a great area to be in for the day, with plenty of options to explore.
