The LUNOVA Festival brings together music, academia, and community in a vibrant, all-day celebration of connection, creativity, and culture.
LUNOVA Festival is a celebration of connection, creativity, and culture. The event is generously supported by the Convocation Trust and the University of London, and in collaboration with SOAS University of London.
Event Overview
Hosted by members of the SOAS community, LUNOVA Festival transforms Senate House Steps into a hub of musical activity on 13 February 2025.
The festival will feature:
- Live Music Performances - showcasing traditional, contemporary, and diverse music styles
- Interactive Workshops - connecting music with themes of identity, ecology, and social impact
- Talks led by experts and creatives bridging academia and real-world activism
- Stalls featuring local organisations and initiatives and SOAS student societies
- This immersive event will be a platform to share SOAS’s world-leading education, creativity, and artistic excellence with the broader community.
At the heart of LUNOVA Festival is the theme of ‘Connecting Worlds,’ inspired by the vision of the University of London, The festival focuses on diversity, inclusivity, and connection, exploring how music bridges divides and fosters shared narratives, offering a dynamic mix of performances and discussions that reflect this ethos.

Live Performances
- Jawari - A multidisciplinary collective blending Indian Classical traditions with contemporary genres. Featuring sitar, percussion, guitar, saxophone, and poetry, Jawari's performances highlight grassroots, transnational collaboration. See Bandcamp Road Rasa for more info.
- Baque Luar - A collective of female and non-binary vocalists and percussionists inspired by Brazilian and Afro-Brazilian roots music. Their music celebrates feminine power, ecological awareness, and the fight against oppression. Baque Luar’s connection to SOAS as alumni and staff deepens their alignment with the festival’s mission.
