Rasha Salti will present her encounter with a series of forgotten photographs of airplane hijackings that took place between 1968 and 1970, found in the archive of a Lebanese newspaper no longer in circulation. Salti will reflect upon how we look at images that do not fit with prevailing perceptions and narratives of collective memory.

Looking at a series of forgotten photographs of airplane hijackings that took place between 1968 and 1970, found in the archive of a Lebanese newspaper no longer in circulation, Perhaps this is not the time… interrogates the status of images as appearance, representation, projection, capture, incarnation and evidence. The text is the outcome of a first encounter with the unsettling imprints of traumatizing and violent events that aspires to re-think how we look at images that do not fit with prevailing perceptions and narratives of collective memory.
