Riding the '6waves' - Alumni Reception in Hong Kong - January 2020

On Monday 13 January 2020, the University of London were delighted to welcome guests to HKU SPACE for its inaugural alumni event in Hong Kong.
Arthur Chow, CEO and co-founder of 6waves talked about his transition from the corporate world (with Yahoo and HSBC) to the excitement of a startup, highlighting how to build trust and obtain funding with a new venture. As a graduate of UoL, he also told guests how his University of London law degree helped him in his journey to building 6waves into a leading global publisher of independent online games on social and mobile platform networks.
The University of London alumni events provide graduates, current students and friends with the opportunity to learn practical skills and take part in thought-provoking discussions about real world issues.

Arthur Chow

Arthur Chow co-founded 6waves (www.6waves.com) in 2008, seizing the business opportunity in the growing social gaming sector. In 2019, 6waves is a leader global publisher of Facebook games reaching over 20 million active users with more than 150 games, which include Ravenwood Fair, Kingdoms of Camelot, and the latest hits Mystery Manor and Airport City. With presence in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, and the US, 6waves has a unique international perspective and has forged successful partnerships with developers from across the globe.
Arthur graduated with a Business Administration degree from Richard Ivey Business School (Canada) in 1993, before completing his Law degree with the University of London in 2000. In 2013, Arthur gained a Master of Business Administration with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and now serves on the HKUST MBA Advisory Board.
In 2012, Arthur was selected as a winner of the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year China Award to recognize his effort in 6waves.
Dr. George Lam BBS

Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Co. Ltd
Dr. Lam has over 30 years of multinational general management, management consulting, corporate governance, investment banking, direct investment and investment fund management experience.
He is Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, and Non-Executive Chairman — Hong Kong and ASEAN Region — and Chief Advisor, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets Asia. He also serves on the board of several publicly-listed companies and investment funds in the Asia Pacific region.
Dr. Lam is a Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong, an Accredited Mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, a Fellow of The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) Australia, the Institute of Public Accountants, the Institute of Financial Accountants, the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, and the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, and an Honorary Fellow of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Australia, the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management and the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education.
