From Spark to Flame: learning design from an evidence base
Event information>
Join us for a thoughtful discussion with four distinguished panellists who navigate these challenges.
Universities increasingly need to justify themselves with evidence – from the TEF requiring metrics to Advance HE's requiring proof of “evidence-based practices”. Accessible overviews like How Learning Happens have made educational research evidence more accessible and guides like Evidence-Informed Learning Design has made the path to evidence-informed practice clear.
Yet despite some trailblazing work – and a lot of big talk on social media sites – so many teaching practices remain unmoored from evidence.
How do we make evidence a starting point for learning design? Where do we start? How do we judge? Where can we turn?
Join us for a thoughtful discussion with four distinguished panellists who navigate these challenges:
- Dave McAlinden, Associate Director of Instructional Design, Columbia University
- Valentina Cattane, Learning Design Director, Imperial College London
- Shoshi Ish-Horowicz, Head of Innovation and Learning, Queen Mary University London
- Eva Kilar-Magdziarz, Course Director, Digital Learning Institute
- Carolina Keupper-Tetzel, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Neuroscience, University of Glasgow
- Helen McKenna, Head of Interdisciplinary Ed Tech Lab, Imperial College London
The discussion will be facilitated by Leonard Houx, CODE fellow and Director of Learning Design, Cambridge Education Group.
