Professor Vosgerau’s research at CODE focuses on new approaches to training professionals in educational research in Brazil, taking into account the diversity and inclusion of students in the Brazilian context. She is working with CODE fellows Professor Phillip Powell and Dr Luis Pereira between August 2024 and August 2025. Receiving the award, Professor Vosgerau said “I had the opportunity to engage with David Baume's studies while participating in the March 2024 Research in Distance Education and e-Learning conference hosted by CODE. Exploring David’s framework made me realise how urgently we need to rethink faculty development in Brazil. This experience has strengthened my desire to be a visiting scholar with CODE. In Brazil, a few universities have established institutional teaching and learning centres to promote the continuous professional development of faculty members. However, most universities only offer this training at the beginning or end of the academic year, leaving little to no opportunities for faculty members to reflect on their practices throughout the year. It is evident that the landscape of continuous professional development for faculty in Brazil is varied, highlighting the need for change and adaptation. This award will enable me to contribute to this effort by using David Baume's framework and studies to make faculty development more equitable, diverse, and inclusive. I am very grateful to CODE and the University of London for this opportunity.”

The David Baume Visiting Fellow Award celebrates and continues David's work and passion for educational development. Dr David Baume made a significant contribution to the Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE) at the University of London, as well as to the wider academic and educational development community. The Award covers the academic costs associated with the three-month placement at the University of London with CODE. The recipient will need to meet all other costs, including travel, accommodation, and living expenses associated with their fellowship.
