London Conference 2021
University of London supporting conversations on the future of the capital
Members of the University's leadership team, including Vice-Chancellor Professor Wendy Thomson CBE, are today attending the Centre for London's London Conference, an annual gathering of city leaders to discuss the capital's future. The event can be watched online via a YouTube live stream. The full programme for the day is available here or alternatively, watch below.
The day's highlights include "Friend or foe? Improving London's relationship with the nation", a panel discussion led by Jo Fox, Chief Executive of SAS and Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Public Engagement.
During the conference, the Centre for London will launch the final report of a multi-year research programme that puts forward an ambitious vision for a fairer, safer, more prosperous and greener city.
"The University of London attracts students from around the world, whose achievements and aspirations are intricately tied to London's success", says Wendy Thomson.
The Centre for London's important strategic review alerts us to the serious challenges facing the capital, not just from the pandemic but from climate change and inequality. The report also reminds us of London's unrivalled strengths. All of us with a stake in London need to take a long-term view of this great national asset, and continue to invest in and promote it.
