New Deputy Vice-Chancellor announced

The University of London is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Paul Layzell as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor with effect from 1 August 2019 for a period of two years. Paul succeeds Professor Ed Byrne of King’s who has been Deputy VC since October 2016. 

As well as being a University of London Trustee, Paul is Principal at Royal Holloway and a distinguished software engineering researcher. He has published extensively on software development methods and his most recent papers contribute to the foundations of service-orientated and ‘cloud’ computing. Paul is also chair of London Higher, representing most of London’s higher education institutions.
 
Previously Paul has held senior roles at the University of Sussex and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
