New Exhibit: French Literature Series

This month, we're bringing to life our French literature collections by showcasing eight authors, their biographies and selected works from our library holdings. On display are their related works, be that film from our extensive collection of criticism. 

The exhibition aims to feature our library collections and to introduce students and staff to important fiction and non-fiction French language writers. 

Writers featured in this exhibition are philosophers Frantz Fanon, known for his work on postcolonialism and psychiatry, Roland Barthes, known for his work on semiotics and poststructuralism, and Julia Kristeva, known for her work on poststructuralism, feminism and psychoanalysis. The poet and screenwriter Louise de Vilmorin is featured alongside autobiographical novelist Violette Leduc, and writer of the immigrant and social underclass experience, Faïza Guène. The exhibition concludes with André Malraux, novelist and writer of art criticism, and the 19th-century poet favoured by the modernists, Arthur Rimbaud. 

Don't have time to check out the exhibit before the spring term break? Not to worry: the exhibition will be renewed after the break, featuring a different set of authors with close ties to the curriculum and staff research interests.
