Designed by the architect Charles Holden, on completion in 1937 Senate House was the capital’s tallest secular structure. It is also one of London’s most recognisable buildings, with an incredible history. Used as the backdrop for countless movies and TV shows, the Art Deco building is also said to have inspired the idea of the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell’s 1984.

Open House London is the world’s largest architecture festival, giving free public access to 800+ buildings, with walks, talks and tours held over two weekends in September each year.
