Open University of China and CODE renew their strategic partnership
The Open University of China and CODE have agreed plans to continue their strategic partnership in the development of teaching and research in open, distance education. Professor Mary Stiasny and Dr Linda Amrane-Cooper met with a delegation of senior leaders of the Open University of China on Tuesday 17th October to map out a framework for future collaboration between OUC and CODE on professional development, staff exchange and research into online and distance education.
Professor Mary Stiasny and Dr Linda Amrane- Cooper hosted Professor Cao Guoyong, Vice Chairman of the University Council, Shi Yunzhi, Deputy Director of the International department, Cheng Gang, Director of the Information Technology department, and He Jing. They were joined by Mike Winter, Director of International Affairs, Tim Wade, Director of Student Registry Services, and Christina Howell-Richardson, CODE coordinator for OUC programmes.
Our future work will continue to build on a strategic partnership which began in 2018.
The framework for future collaboration will include:
- CODE will continue to support professional development in teaching and learning within OUC.
- A focus on research in open, online and distance education
- The OUC visiting Scholars’ programme hosted at CODE.
- Staff visits between our institutions for the purposes of research, training, and professional development.
Our colleagues from OUC also enjoyed a tour University of London’s Senate House library. Deputy Librarian Pete Williams led the tour and a highlight included viewing a 1745 map of Southeast Asia including China.
