Transatlantic diplomacy alliance building
At a time of heightened international tension, turbulence and uncertainty regarding the future direction of US policy after the forthcoming US presidential election, University of London Centre for Online and Distance Education fellow and associate director Dr Ashley Cox leads a panel on Alliance Building in Transatlantic Diplomacy at the Transatlantic Studies Association Conference, Lancaster University 8-10 July 2024.

Chaired by Ashley Cox, University of London, the panel comprised Danny Bolin, School of Advanced Studies, University of London, discussing “Anglo-American Origins: Rehabilitative Sports Diplomacy and the Invictus Games”; Jack Clayton, SOAS, University of London, on “The effect of post-Cold War Jacksonian European schisms on alliance building”; Sherif Amin, SOAS, University of London, on NATO-MENA Relations-How a History of Cooperation and Alliance Building could Lead to the Creation of a MENA NATO”; and Ewan Lawson, University of Stellenbosch, discussing “Peace or Justice? The Challenge of Transatlantic Alliance Building at the end of the Great War”.
