On 13 and 14 July, the University was delighted to welcome the newest members of its alumni community to the Alumni Celebration Evenings at Senate House.

The events were an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the recent cohort of graduates, who had attended the University's in-person graduation ceremonies in London that week.

The Alumni Celebration Evenings took place across Beveridge and Macmillan Hall, and began with speeches from Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wendy Thomson and Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Mary Stiasny.

In her opening remarks, Professor Thomson spoke of the importance of celebrating achievements before addressing the big question of “what comes next”.

Graduates were also encouraged to be an active part of the alumni community by sharing achievements, becoming an Alumni Ambassador or simply by staying in touch and visiting Senate House. She said that University of London graduates should consider the iconic building a “home”.

Professor Thomson told graduates that they were “joining an alumni community of more than half a million people around the globe, including Nobel Prize winners, and leaders in law, finance, humanities and other fields.”

We were pleased to see our uniquely international community represented at the events, with attendees coming from as far as Australia, Singapore and Nigeria.

Our alumni, together with their friends and family members, had the chance to network with fellow graduates, meet University staff, and get a memento from the evening at the London-themed photobooth.

We warmly welcome our newest graduates to the alumni community and look forward to keeping in touch.
