University hosts special event for alumni in Pakistan
On 17 March 2023, the University hosted an event for alumni in Pakistan. We were delighted to have nearly 300 of our alumni, students, partners and friends join us for this event in Islamabad.
Our esteemed alumni speakers, Zahir Riaz, Rahat Kaunain Hassan, and Khadija Siddiqui spoke eloquently about how their University of London degrees have supported their professional, and personal, lives. Adrian Chadwick OBE, Regional Director South Asia at the British Council, spoke positively about the University’s contribution in the region.
We were especially honoured to have Senator Azam Nazir Tarrar, Federal Minister for Law and Justice, as our primary guest and most esteemed speaker. The Senator spoke of the long and honoured links between the University of London and Pakistan, particularly in legal education.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Mary Stiasny OBE travelled from London along with the University’s Head of Constituency Engagement, Holly Peterson and Head of Business Support, Alex Boughton, who were joined in Pakistan by the University’s Regional Advisor Saad Wasim.
Professor Stiasny spoke about the University’s longstanding ties with Pakistan that go back many decades. She also thanked the University’s Pakistan-based alumni and student community for their continued engagement with the University. The University of London has over 7000 alumni based in Pakistan and 22 Alumni Ambassadors.
While in Pakistan, Professor Stiasny also met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
