University of London in India on ground-breaking higher education mission
This week, the University of London is delighted to be part of a UK Government-led higher education mission to India, the largest UK university leaders’ delegation to the country to date.
The University is one of 23 UK higher education institutions (HEIs) on the mission - which has been spearheaded by the British Council, Universities UK International, the Department for Education and the Department for International Trade.
The mission, India/UK Together: Higher Education Collaboration, is taking place over five days this week, from 6 to 10 June. Its aim is to scope new partnerships that align with India’s National Education Policy and the India-UK Roadmap 2030. It will see delegates visit a number of important institutions across the country - in Delhi, Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Kolkata (West Bengal).
The University of London will be scoping opportunities to build on our existing transnational engagement with India, with both institutional and corporate partners.
The University of London’s Director of Global Business Development and mission delegate, Ian Jamieson, said:
“With 50,000 of our students studying for their degrees in 190 countries, and many of these in India, transnational education has been part of the University of London’s DNA for nearly two centuries. Against the background of India’s new push for higher education internationalisation, the mission is a great opportunity for us to build on this.
“I look forward to fruitful and interesting discussions over the coming days, and to developing further relationships with Indian institutions and corporates, so that we can build many more quality opportunities for students and professionals alike.”
