University visits alumni in Pakistan, announces Mary Stiasny Scholarship

The University hosted alumni events in Lahore on Wednesday, 8 May and Karachi on Thursday, 9 May 2024 in conjunction with the announcement of a new scholarship in honour of Professor Mary Stiasny.
We were delighted to hold alumni events in Pakistan in May 2024 in both Lahore and Karachi.
The event in Lahore was themed around 'Success through Equality: the Importance of Gender Parity in senior roles' and featured panellists sharing their insights. We were honoured to hear from our chief guest, Justice Nasira Iqbal and Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Committee, Professor Dr Shahid Munir.
At the Karachi event, 'Preparing for a Changing World: Employability and Entrepreneurship,' alumni heard from esteemed panellists on how they might make the most of their degree. We were honoured to hear from our guest of honour Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan and chief guest, Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, Chief Justice of the High Court of Sindh.
Both events were attended by Professor Mary Stiasny OBE, who retired from her role as Pro Vice-Chancellor (International, Teaching and Learning) in June 2024. Also in attendance were Bill Abraham, Director of Development and Holly Peterson, Head of Constituency Engagement. These events and the University's visit to Pakistan was made possible through instrumental support by Saad Wasim, our Regional Advisor for South Asia, who accompanied the delegation.
During the visit, the University announced the Mary Stiasny Scholarship, a new global award in support of undergraduate scholarships. The University welcomes support for the Scholarship at all levels - you can read more and contribute on the dedicated webpage.
Each event was followed by a reception and qawwali. You can see photos from the event on our Flickr page.
On the University's YouTube channel, you can watch highlight videos from both the Lahore and Karachi events.
