Show your appreciation this Valentine's Day!
This Valentine's Day, Haala encourages you to show kindness to your loved ones.
Valentine’s Day is an international festival that celebrates love. This day is largely portrayed as one dedicated to those in relationships, however, Valentine’s Day has a much deeper meaning. It is a day where you can express love in all forms - not just romantic!
The true essence of this day is in its promotion of love, peace, generosity and gratitude. We must look beyond the commercialisation of Valentine’s Day and use it as an opportunity to thank people in our lives, whoever they are, for being there when we need them. Here are some things you can do to bring happiness today!
• Show love to your family
Being part of a family is something very wonderful. Tell them that you love them. Even if they know, it still never hurts to remind people. Make them a little treat or buy a gift for them. Help in the kitchen, go on a walk, play with your siblings or listen to some of your grandparents’ favourite stories. Whatever you do, don’t forget to say, ‘I love you!‘
• Reach out to old friends and make new ones
Student life can sometimes be tough with such a busy schedule, not leaving much time for socialising. Occasions like Valentine’s Day provide the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends. You can also reach out to those in your neighbourhood with whom you are not well acquainted to expand your circle of friends. Love and joys shared together are remembered forever!
• Don’t forget those who have helped you on your study journey
Teachers are shining stars in the life of a student. You can easily recall that teacher who changed your life by simply helping you to acknowledge your own strengths. Grab a few friends and record a special message for your teacher this Valentine’s Day. Amidst all of this fun, don’t forget those who may not specifically be teachers, yet still fill a special role – janitors, cleaners, sports coaches or even librarians. Spread the love and show gratitude!
• Do something special with your pet
Valentine’s Day can also be celebrated with your beloved pet. Use this special occasion to create lasting memories with them. Bake their favourite cookie or spoil them with a massage. Pets love to play, so why not buy them a new toy? You could even take a stroll in the park or can go to a pet café. No matter how you spend this day with your pet, you’ll be richly rewarded with love and warmth!
We need to spread love in its true sense. There is so much hatred, jealousy and torment around us that I feel the world is in desperate need for love and peace. Loving others will make us happier and more positive. It can be easy to dwell on the bad rather than on the good. The only way we can make this world a better place is by being kind to each other!
Remember, today and every day, that you are valuable. Your loved ones are worthy. Your life is beautiful. You are blessed. And you are indeed, so very loved!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
