Nutella Crepes with Banana

Hi, I’m Esha from Pakistan, and I’m so excited to bring you a delicious and student-friendly recipe this week! Whether you’re juggling classes, working late, or just craving something yummy, I’ve got you covered with this easy-to-make dish that is perfect for busy students.

This is a recipe that’s sure to become one of your favourites: Crêpes with chocolate spread and bananas! Soft, buttery crepes filled with warm, melted chocolate hazelnut spread and topped with sweet, ripe bananas—it’s the perfect combination for breakfast, dessert or even a midday snack. Plus, it takes just a few minutes to prepare!

Let’s dive into this simple and delicious recipe.

Crepes with chocolate spread filling and bananas

Before you begin

Please note this recipe contains allergens such as nuts and dairy products. It can be easily adapted to suit your preferences.

Ingredients

For the crêpes:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

For the filling:

  • Chocolate hazelnut spread (as much as you like! I use Nutella®)
  • 2 bananas, sliced

Optional toppings:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped nuts (like almonds or hazelnuts)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the crêpe batter

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and eggs.
  2. Gradually add the milk and water while whisking, until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, salt, sugar (if using), and vanilla extract.
  4. Let the batter rest for 15-30 minutes for softer, more tender crêpes.

Step 2: Cook the crêpes

  1. Heat a lightly oiled non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the pan, swirling it around to coat the surface evenly.
  3. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until the edges begin to lift and the bottom turns golden brown.
  4. Flip the crêpe and cook the other side for about 1 minute.
  5. Remove the crêpe from the pan and repeat with the remaining batter.

Step 3: Fill the crêpes

  1. Spread a thick layer of chocolate hazelnut spread on one side of each crepe.
  2. Add banana slices on top of the chocolate hazelnut spread. Top tip: lots of other fruits also taste good such as strawberries, blueberries and other ‘brain’ foods!
  3. Fold the crêpe into quarters or roll it up, whichever you prefer.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Dust with powdered sugar for extra sweetness, or top with whipped cream for a touch of luxury!
  2. If you want some added crunch, sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  3. Serve warm and enjoy your indulgent, chocolate-filled creation!
