Dynamic sports management programme puts students in a league of their own

University of London’s exciting new Postgraduate Certificate in International Sports Management will be launching January 2020. The programme, which was jointly designed with leading world sports education partner, World Academy of Sport (WAoS), will give students the opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills that are highly sought after by sports organisations globally.
WAoS brings extensive experience in training, education and facilitating sports development on a global scale, ensuring that the programme is enriched with cutting-edge practice-based content and analysis.

The collaboration between University of London and WAoS has resulted in an academically rigorous programme that benefits from expert input and extensive knowledge of sports industry trends and insights. Dr Oscar Mwaanga, Programme Director, explains some of the key benefits of the qualification:

Using sport as a tool for development is a hot topic and a highly sought-after competence, which is unique to this programme.
Modules will cover topics ranging from strategy and governance to sponsorship and event management. Students can also study individual modules on a stand-alone basis without being registered for the programme.
A particularly relevant module is International Sport Development, which examines the ever-changing social and political contexts of international sport development. It provides an understanding of the implications of sports participation on health, community cohesion and social development.

“The module aims to empower students with the tools to make sense of complex challenges associated with the promotion of physical activity and sport participation. It provides an in depth understanding of the role sport plays in social development and centralises the role that sport plays in contributing to various contemporary social development agendas.”
