Celebrating Pride 2021

Today (1 June) marks the beginning of Pride month, and we have once again dyed our logo in rainbow colours, the symbolic flag of the LGBTQ+ community. 

The past year has been difficult for everyone for many well documented reasons. However, we have seen that hate and persecution still affects people from all walks of life, including those from the LGBTQ+ community. Therefore, it is still just as important, if not more so now, to show our support and solidarity in any way we can for those in the community to affect real change. Actions must follow words, and our Head of Inclusion Yasmin Ahmed, along with colleagues from the Senior Leadership Team and Human Resources, continue to ensure that inclusion, equality and diversity is embedded into everything that we do as an organisation. 

It is significant that for many young people higher education is often the first place where they are able to be themselves and we are committed to promoting inclusion and equality among our students, staff and the wider University of London community.
 
The University of London was founded upon the principles of equality and established to provide education open to all. We stand for and support equal rights for all. 
 
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Pride in London parade celebrations have been delayed until 11th September. We are hoping to either join the parade along with our member institutions (as we have done in the past) as well as hosting a celebration   of our own.
