LRaPP Awarded Seed Funding from UKRI to Develop Local Policy Innovation Partnership
The London Research and Policy Partnership (LRaPP), based at the University of London, has been awarded seed funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to develop a Local Policy Innovation Partnership (LPIP).
The LPIP programme is designed to support local and national policymakers in tackling levelling up challenges, driving sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and reducing regional disparities in the UK.
The seed funding will allow LRaPP to map, convene, and develop partnerships that enable a just transition to net zero, with a particular focus on retrofitting London’s homes to make them more efficient, sustainable, and better for the environment.
Over the next five months, LRaPP will organize a series of solution-focused events bringing together academic researchers, London’s policymakers (from the Greater London Authority, London Councils, and London Boroughs), business sector leaders, and community and voluntary sector experts to consider future research and policy activities.
Priority areas of focus for the partnership include:
- Green jobs, skills, and enterprise, including opportunities for developing new businesses and skilled workers to decarbonize and support growth.
- Better homes, including working with communities to decarbonize London’s homes.
Professor Ben Rogers, Professor of Practice at the University of London, will lead the initiative, which also includes partners from the Greater London Authority, London Councils, UCL, Birkbeck University, and Capabilities in Academic Policy Engagement (CAPE).
