Anh Truong

Growing up in a maths-focused academic environment, I often struggled to understand where my true passion lay. It wasn’t until I discovered computer science that everything began to fall into place. Despite the pressure of seeing peers thrive in prestigious companies and roles, I chose to follow what genuinely excited me — enrolling in the BSc Computer Science programme with the University of London.

As an immigrant living in California, I’ve learned how to balance earning a living with pursuing my passion. Over the years, I’ve achieved personal and professional milestones that I’m proud of. One key moment was securing my first corporate experience through an agency as an SDET apprentice at SIE PlayStation. Although I had the chance to stay on as a contractor, I chose a different path. Still, I’m incredibly grateful for my time at SIE, which provided invaluable technical and business insights into operating at scale — lessons that continue to guide me as I now focus on building my own startup. Today, I’m developing a React Native mobile app while working part-time as an UberEats delivery driver — another balancing act, but one that keeps me grounded as I pursue my dream.
