Jessica Hancock
Programme Director for the University of London’s PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education
Dr Jessica Clare Hancock (SFHEA) is the Programme Director for the University of London’s PGCert Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. Prior to this she was Head of Learning and Teaching at the University of Winchester, where she was Programme Leader for the MA Student Engagement, and the MA Learning and Teaching in HE. She led and delivered the first online-only iteration of the MA LTHE modules, which covered aspects such as Decolonising the Curriculum, Inclusive Learning and Teaching, Education Practitioner Research and Compassionate Academic Support and Tutoring. She also had a responsibility for supporting teaching across Winchester, and leading on key initiatives such as developing assessment and the introduction of a university-wide Personal Academic Tutoring scheme.
Jessica has taught at a range of institutions during her career in HE (University of Oxford, Brunel University, University of Portsmouth, Glasgow Caledonian University London, UCL, and City, University of London). She has spent time working in Learning Development, directly with students, holding the Association for Learning Development in HE’s Certified Practitioner Status, and retains an interest in academic literacies. She is passionate about supporting anyone involved in teaching to enhance their practice, and set up courses specifically for PhD researchers at both City and Winchester.
