The Role
Senate House Library is looking to recruit three part-time temporary library shelvers into 6 month fixed term roles commencing in January. The post holders will shelve and tidy in assigned areas as required, answer basic enquiries from Library users (such as directing users to stock or around the Library), assist in moving loaded trolleys to the appropriate areas and participate in certain aspects of ongoing collection management activities. Candidates must be able to work 15 hours a week and for that to be comprised of 3 continuous hours of work each day Monday to Friday between 9am and 5.45pm.
Requirements
The successful candidates will have the ability to accurately file both alphabetically and numerically and to learn the further complexities of Library classification schemes following instruction. A pleasant and helpful manner when dealing with users of the library and good communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to give clear instructions are essential to this role.

Senate House Library is the central library for the University of London, and the home library for the School of Advanced Study. We offer Arts, Humanities and Social Science Research Collections and Special Collections in the heart of London’s student and research community. Members can access over two million books, 30,000 journal titles and a large range of digital resources.
