Join the Library

To register for Library membership, first select the membership type that's right for you. Then complete the form on the relevant page.

Please complete the form before you first visit the Library, and bring the correct ID / proof of address required to complete your membership. Check ID requirements.

When your membership is complete either online or in person, you can register for the Library App with your Library membership number for cardless access to Senate House Library and BLOOM@Senate House.

University of London

Most current students and staff at the Colleges and Institutions are eligible for free membership of Senate House Library.

Reference only access

Reference only membership is ideal for regular access to the Library's reading rooms, collections and other services onsite.

University of London Alumni

Retired academic staff and individuals who graduated with a University of London degree.

Students and staff at other UK universities

Find out more about joining Senate House Library as a member of staff or student from another UK university.

Overseas universities

Membership information for current academic staff and individuals studying for a research degree (e.g. PhD, MPhil) at overseas universities.

Day tickets

Day tickets are ideal for short term use of the library with reference access to the collections in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
