Our user experience survey: members respond with glowing feedback

A survey we conducted a few months ago has revealed a 94 per cent satisfaction rate amongst our library membership.

In the summer we carried out a survey of our members’ experiences of the library.

We were delighted to learn also that 94 per cent of them are either very satisfied or satisfied with our service.

As well as gauging how well we are meeting members' needs, we wanted to find out how library use has changed since the pandemic, which new services have been appreciated most, and what further improvements could be made.

Two thirds (over 60 per cent) of our membership said that keeping the library open later into the evening and also at weekends was very important, so we have responded to this without delay - see the new opening hours.

The survey also told us:

  • more than a quarter (28 per cent) of our members use the library either entirely or mostly remotely, and the most popular services include our expanded e-book collections;
  • a collaborative study area, cardless access, and adaptations for disabled and dyslexic users would also be very welcome – suggestions we will follow up on in the coming months.

The winners of the prize draw and a £50 National Book Token are as follows:

Roger King, University of Nottingham
Adam Mansouri, UCL
Alex McGill, Queen Mary, University of London
