The University of Passau was established in 1978 and was rated the top State University for Law in the most recent ranking. Its focus is on internationality, hence the Law Faculty's commitment to offer tuition in English Law from very early in the University's history.

Some 400 students study German Law every year in Passau. Nearly all of them attend courses in subject-specific language training alongside their studies in German Law (the language centre at Passau offers 15 languages); 20 of the most dedicated students are selected for the University of London's Diploma in Law which is taught at no additional cost.

Normally, Passau students complete the Diploma in Law alongside their studies of German Law in two years. Teaching is provided in the four subjects Common Law Reasoning and Institutions, Criminal Law, Contract Law and Public Law.

The students who proceed to the LLB are offered support and may sit their exams in Passau. Located in the very east of Bavaria on the Austrian frontier and just half an hour from the Czech border. The medieval City of Passau counts 50, 000 inhabitants, 20 percent of whom are students.

The size of the City, the campus on the banks of the river Inn, the purpose-built university and the excellence in teaching provide an ideal learning environment. Interested potential students are invited to attend lectures and seminars. We are sure Passau will be the University of your Choice! Please arrange an appointment with Andrew Otto.

We recommend that you check further details with the Teaching Centre before applying.
