The Careers Group commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We commit to creating an environment for our colleagues that:

  • enables everyone to bring their full and best selves to work
  • where everyone feels empowered to contribute their diverse perspectives for the good of the organisation
  • where individuals feel valued, have a sense of belonging, and are confident to participate

To achieve this, we aspire for all members of our community to continually strive to recognise, acknowledge, understand, and embrace the lived experiences of others, how they differ from our own, and the value that such diversity brings to our work and our community. Through our work, we seek to challenge conditions of oppression and privilege, and the systems that sustain them, including those that affect our students and graduates.

We commit to building equitable practices in our community by:

  • Creating inclusive career development opportunities for our staff
  • Proactively providing space for reflection and learning for all, including safe spaces in all engagement and activities
  • Creating structured groups to oversee continuous quality improvements on our commitments and actions, including collecting and evaluating data and qualitative evidence to support and enable accountability
  • Improving the confidence of staff and students to name and challenge all forms of harassment, discrimination, bias, and oppression
  • Building personal objectives into appraisal for all staff focusing on how to build and sustain equitable and inclusive communities and workplaces
  • Actively recruiting, developing, and maintaining a diverse population of colleagues that reflects the students and institutions we serve
  • Embedding equity and inclusion at the heart of recruitment, development, and progression
