A versatile academic venue in the heart of London
As part of University of London Venues, and our flagship venue, Senate House is an academic conference venue with a range of elegant rooms and breakout spaces ideal for large-scale conferences and academic seminar. Being part of a renowned academic institution, University of London Venues is well placed to hold academic events and has much experience in doing so.
Senate House has hosted successful seminars, careers fairs, film screenings and symposiums across its impressive suite of academic event spaces. There are also a range of breakout spaces available suited for workshops.
Senate House is conveniently situated in the University district of Bloomsbury, so ideal for an international academic conference venue, benefitting from excellent transport links. It is just a short walk away from Russell Square tube station, and Kings Cross and Euston railway stations.
Our Academic Venues
Beveridge Hall
Capacity: Theatre Style: 950
Our primary academic conference room, this is one of central London’s largest venues, featuring flexible seating, an impressive stage area and practical natural acoustics.
Designed in the early 20th Century by Charles Holden, this impressive space still retains its sophistication and grandeur.
MacMillan Hall
Capacity: Theatre Style: 220
Macmillan Hall provides an elegant backdrop for an academic conference or symposium, with an extensive flat floor space and a flexible layout.
This sophisticated space has original features from the 1930s, with the adjacent Beveridge Hall providing a series of rooms ideally suited for a large conference.
Chancellor's Hall
Capacity: Theatre Style: 140
The Chancellor’s Hall is situated on the first floor of the outstanding tower building of Senate House. This impressive room has a sense of grandeur, which is the ideal backdrop for an academic talk.
With a flexible layout, the hall meets all the requirements of a dynamic academic conference.
Foyer and Crush Hall
Providing the perfect conference breakout area, as well as a large and sophisticated space for film screenings, academic poster displays or exhibitions, the foyer and Crush Hall complement the larger conference halls.
Completed in 1938, this marbled ceremonial space creates a dramatic impression when entering Senate House.
